Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your free reputation preview, the $10 Available Findings Report pilot, and the optional $50 personal diagnosis.

About the Scan

What does the free preview check?

The free preview uses passive Google/search discovery and clearly labeled court-record and mugshot coverage when available. With your required authorization, it also runs one closed-book observation on Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5 using only your name and listed city/state locations. Date of birth, email, phone, and street address are excluded from the AI observation. People-search and data-broker coverage may be unavailable and is not guaranteed. When sufficient required coverage is available, you get a preview score from 0-100; otherwise the preview shows the available findings and identifies which coverage is incomplete. No overall score is issued when required coverage is missing.

How long does the scan take?

Most scans complete in 2-5 minutes. You'll see a live progress bar, and we'll also email you when your results are ready.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. The free preview shows which categories flagged and a summary of findings, plus your reputation score when every required source category has verified coverage. The $10 Available Findings Report is a manually operated pilot: after owner acceptance, payment is arranged manually, and you receive a secure private link with exact public URLs from sources successfully checked. People-search and data-broker coverage is not guaranteed. It adds no human review and no removal work. The optional $50 personal diagnosis adds identity resolution, a human actionability review, and — when a route is genuinely eligible — a write-up of one reviewed action such as a broker opt-out or eligible Google personal-info request, with the exact steps to request it. Carrying out an action on your behalf is limited to a small invited pilot and is not included.

How is my reputation score calculated?

A score is calculated only when every mandatory scoring dimension has sufficient verified coverage. When it is, it starts at 100 and decreases only for scoreable Google or verified source evidence. Same-name candidates and unverified coverage do not count as clean or lower the score. If a required source category cannot be verified, the score and grade are shown as Not computed — never as zero or a blank — and the report lists the available findings instead. The authorized Claude Sonnet 5 observation is informational and always carries zero points.

About Removal

Can you remove my mugshot, court record, or a news article?

No — and no honest service can promise to. Only a court can seal or expunge a record, and news outlets control their own pages. What we can do is show you exactly what's there, tell you what's actually you versus a same-name stranger, and point you toward legal aid for anything that needs a lawyer.

What can the $50 diagnosis actually remove?

The diagnosis writes up one reviewed action only when a route is genuinely eligible. That may be a data-broker opt-out or an eligible Google personal-info removal request, with the exact steps to request it. Carrying out an action on your behalf is limited to a small invited pilot and is not included, so no submission or follow-up check is promised.

We cannot erase court records or promise removal of mugshots or news articles. Some sites ignore requests, so we make no guarantees and never label a source removed without before/after verification.

What's the difference between the free preview, the $10 Available Findings Report, and the $50 diagnosis?

The free Reputation Preview shows passive Google/search findings, clearly labeled court-record and mugshot coverage when available, and one authorized closed-book Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5 observation using only the name and listed city/state locations. AI observations are informational and carry zero score. People-search and data-broker coverage may be unavailable and is not guaranteed.

The $10 Available Findings Report is a manually operated pilot: after owner acceptance, payment is arranged manually, and you receive a secure private HTML report link with exact public URLs from sources successfully checked. People-search and data-broker coverage is not guaranteed; no overall score is issued when required coverage is missing. It adds no human review and no removal work.

The $50 personal diagnosis goes deeper: with your birth year and other identity context we separate records likely to be you from same-name strangers, give you a plain read of what's fixable and what needs a lawyer, and — when a route is genuinely eligible — write up one reviewed action such as a broker opt-out or an eligible Google personal-info request, with the exact steps to request it. Carrying out an action on your behalf is limited to a small invited pilot and is not included in this request, so we promise no submission and no re-check here. If an action is ever carried out, confirmed removals still require before/after source verification; other outcomes stay labeled pending, not found, or unconfirmed. It's one-time, by request, with no subscription.

About Expungement

Does FixMyRecord handle expungement?

No — expungement is a legal process that must go through the courts, and we don't file it. We provide educational resources, but FixMyRecord is not a law firm.

What we help with is clarity — telling what's actually you apart from a same-name stranger — and, where eligible, removal of your personal contact info from Google search. For sealing or expunging a record, you'll need a lawyer or legal aid.

My record was expunged but it still shows up online. Can you help?

We can help check where information still appears on private sites and tell you which opt-out or removal requests are available to you, with the exact steps. Carrying out an action on your behalf is limited to a small invited pilot and is not included. Court changes do not automatically notify Google, data brokers, or mugshot sites, and each third-party site has its own rules and response time.

Privacy & Security

Is my information safe with you?

We do not sell or publish your scan. Limited data is processed by the search, email, hosting, and payment providers described in our Privacy Policy. The authorized AI sample sends only your name and listed city/state locations through our privacy-gated Gateway; date of birth, email, phone, and street address are excluded. Keep your results token private unless you intentionally create a share link.

Who can see my results?

Your results page requires a unique access token sent to your email. We do not publish it. Anyone you intentionally give a generated share link to may view the shared report until you revoke that link.

Legal

Is this legal?

Privacy rights depend on your jurisdiction, the company, and the data involved. When a reviewed route applies and you authorize us, we may act as your authorized agent for eligible personal-contact-info requests. We do not submit a request without authorization.

Is FixMyRecord a law firm?

No. FixMyRecord is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It's a diagnostic tool, not a consumer report or background check. For legal matters like expungement or sealing a record, consult a licensed attorney or legal aid in your state.
