What Does ChatGPT Say About You? A Safer Way to Check
A model answer is a point-in-time sample, not a background check or verified record. Start with public sources, protect your identity data, and avoid leading prompts.
First: Know Which Mode You Are Testing
A closed-book model answers from its existing context. A search-backed tool may retrieve current web pages. Those are different measurements and should never be combined into one "AI verdict." A model can also decline, hallucinate, or merge people who share a name.
FixMyRecord therefore does not query ChatGPT or any other LLM in the default preview. Default discovery uses passive Google/search evidence. Optional sampling is a separate, affirmative-consent feature.
Use One Neutral Identity Prompt
If you choose to sample a model, identify the person only by full name and known location, then ask whether the model can confidently distinguish that exact person from same-name people. Require one of three outcomes: known, no reliable knowledge, or insufficient identity.
Do not prime the model with words such as "arrest," "criminal," "mugshot," "trustworthy," or "background." Repeating allegation-heavy prompts can bias the answer and pollute the observation you are trying to measure.
Privacy and Reproducibility
- Get explicit consent before sending a person's identity to an LLM provider.
- Use zero-data-retention controls where supported and record that they were requested.
- Record the exact returned model, date, prompt version, and whether search was enabled.
- Do not silently fall back to another provider or model.
- Treat a same-name ambiguity as insufficient identity, not a negative finding.
What an Answer Can and Cannot Prove
An answer can document what one model returned once. It cannot prove what every user will see, where private model knowledge came from, that a cited source caused the answer, or that deleting a page will change future output.
If an answer names a public page, verify the URL, identity, date, original source, and disposition separately. Only a real publisher policy, opt-out, correction, search-removal, or legal route can make that source actionable.
Measure Without Creating More Noise
Use passive search monitoring as the routine layer. FixMyRecord's LLM sampler is currently unavailable. If you independently sample another service, do it sparingly with the same neutral prompt and disclosed model. Report changes as observations, not proof of causation.
